TENOR

Ziad Nehme was born in Tripoli, Lebanon. On leaving school he attended the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music in Beirut studying singing with Prof. Kevork Karametelian and then completed a Masters in Opera at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In November 2008 Ziad joined the International Opera Studio at the Hamburg State Opera, after which he went on to join the Ensembles of Stadttheater Bremerhaven, Staatstheater Oldenburg and Nationaltheater Mannheim.

Ziad is equally at home on both the operatic and the concert platform and performances have taken him to some of the major venues in Europe and also to his native Lebanon. Concerts have included Haydn's Great Organ Mass, Mozart's Solemn Vespers, Credo Mass and Coronation Mass, Schubert's E-Flat Major Mass, Vivaldi's Magnificat, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Keiser's St. Mark Passion, Mendelssohn's Elias, Rossini's Petite Messe and Bach's Magnificat, as well as the Evangelist in Bach's St. John Passion. Recitals have included Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin and Winterreisse, Schumann's Liederkreis op. 24 and Schönberg's Brettl-Lieder. Ziad's operatic roles include Conte Almaviva, Don Ottavio, Ferrando, Basilio, Nerone in Händel's Agrippina, Male Chorus (The rape of Lucretia), The swan in Carmina Burana, Camille de Rosillon (The merry widow), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Truffaldino (Love of the three oranges), Marquis (The gambler) and Natale in the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti’s “Esame di Mezzanotte”. Ziad worked under such conductors as Simone Young, Kent Nagano, Michael Schønwandt, Alexander Soddy, Constantin Trinks, Alessandro De Marchi, Stefan Soltesz, Dan Ettinger and Dennis Russell Davies. In the seasons 16/17 and 17/18 the Tenor performed the role of Rogelio in Martin Matalon’s “L’ombre de Venceslao” in Rennes, Marseille, Toulouse, Avignon and other french opera houses. In the 18/19 season, he will be joining Barbara Hannigan in the debut tour of Ensemble Equilibrium with performances of Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress with several european orchestras and will be returning to the Hamburg state opera with roles such as Oronte (Alcina), Jacquino (Fidelio) and Remendado (Carmen).
